Despite the pain, she remained alert, her instincts as a protector still evident. Without hesitation, I carried her to the shelter of nearby trees, applied a tourniquet to her wounded limb, and called for medical assistance. Even in that moment of crisis, Lucca’s bravery never wavered. She had saved lives, just as she had done countless times before.
